Memorial & Honorary Gifts

Making a donation to Friends of Woodstock School in honor or memory of a friend or family member is a fitting tribute to that special person. There are three ways to honor in individual in this way. Your gift is tax deductible and we will notify the person or family of your gift and acknowledge it publicly in our list of supporters in the FWS Annual Report.

1. To An Existing FWS Fund

Any memorial or honorary donation of any amount can be made to any existing FWS fund, and is MOST WELCOME! Contributions to our undesignated Annual Fund, “Woodstock Fund For Excellence” are the most valuable. However, one could also designate a memorial contribution to any of the Existing FWS Designated Funds. Please indicate the fund which your gift is designated for and the name of the person you are honoring or remembering.

2. Designated Project Funds

These are contributions to support a particular project, where the project itself, and not just individual donations, is seen to be in honor of an individual or class. The project is not permanent nor is the fund. These initiatives are relatively more difficult to administer for a minimally staffed organization like FWS. For this reason we ask that prior to designating a project you consult with FWS staff to ensure the project or fund is of substantial and pressing interest. FWS strongly encourages donors contemplating activity of less than $10,000 to instead make the honorary or memorial contributions to one of the Existing FWS Designated Funds, all of which support priority needs.

3. Permanent Named Endowment Funds

FWS has several named endowment funds established in honor or memory of a beloved friend of family member. In order to be cost-effective, donors wishing to set up a permanent, named endowment should commit to a donation of not less than $250,000 contributed over a period of five years.
